‘Chitral Day’ celebrated
PESHAWAR: A musical night was held in Chitral on Sunday night in connection with the ‘Chitral Day’.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) in collaboration with Trich Mir Backpackers Club Pakistan organised the event.
A large number of students and members of civil society attended the event. MPA Rabia Basri was the chief guest.
The ceremony also featured traditional songs, including performances by Mohsin Ali and his team, captivating the audience.
Various artists, including Raees Ghazan, Sariruddin, Tanver Nawab, Waqas and Hakim played different kinds of musical instruments.
Stalls displaying rich cultural heritage of Chitral were set up by the department of sports, and youth affairs aimed to project the local culture and make people aware about traditions of various areas of the district.
Addressing the ceremony, MPA Rabia Basri said Chitralis were peaceful, law-abiding, and these activities would help promote local traditions besides providing people with an entertainment opportunity.
Later, an award-giving ceremony was held to appreciate the contributions of Chitrali people in the fields of education, social work and literature.
Hidayatullah, Zubaida Sirang, Dr Inayat, Afsar Ali, Ejaz Ahmad, Rehmat Ali, Saifur Rehman and Zafarullah received the awards.
Different games like badminton, table tennis, football and musical chairs were also played.
Sharifullah got first position in badminton and Hamad and Sarwat stood first in table tennis. Mastoj tehsil team won the football trophy.
Attaullah, Ahmad Hassan and Aziza Qamar got first, second and third positions, respectively, in Naat competition.
