National Jr Tennis reaches semis stage

LAHORE: The National Junior Tennis Cham­pionship featuring different categories reached the semi-finals stage here at the Punjab Tennis Academy on Thursday.

In the boys U-18 quarter-finals, Asad Zaman ousted Hassan Ali 6-1, 6-0; Mahatir Mohammad outplayed Shahzaib Zahid 6-1, 6-0; Mohammad Salaar defeated Mustansir Ali Khan 6-4, 6-3 while Ahte­sham Humayun outclassed Hamza Jawad 6-0, 6-4.

Sohaan Noor/Waleed Humayun downed Ryan Omer/Kanwar Abdul Reh­man 4-2, 4-2 and Hamza Jawad/Hassan Ali beat Sayyam Saeed/Hassan Ali (GC) 4-2, 4-1 in the boys U-18 doubles quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Asad Zaman beat Hamza Anwar 6-4, 6-3; Mohammad Salaar defeated M. Sohaan Noor 6-1,6-0; Hamza Ali Rizwan outclassed Abubakar Khalil 6-1, 6-0 and Ahtesham Humayun overcame Amir Mazari 6-2, 6-3 in the boys U-16 last-eight matches.

Results of other quarter-finals:

Boys U-14 : Amir Mazari bt Raziq Sultan 4-2, 4-1; Zohaib Afzal Malik bt Mohammad Uzair 5-3, 4-0; Abdur Rehman bt Nabeel Qayum 3-5, 5-3, 10-5; Hamza Ali Rizwan bt Haziq Areejo 4-1, 4-1.

Boys U-14 doubles: Mohammad Uzair/Arsalan bt Hamza/Abdul Samad 4-1, 4-2

Boys/girls U-12: Abdur Rehman bt Mustafa Uzair Rana 4-0, 4-0; Mohammad Shayan Afridi bt Fajar Fayyaz 4-1, 4-0; Razik Sultan bt Bismal Zia 4-0, 4-2; Mohammad Junaid bt Hajra Suhail 4-1, 5-3

Boys/girls U-10 quarter-finals: Zayd Mansoor Ahmad bt Aiman Rehan 4-0, 4-0; Mustafa Uzair Rana bt Mohammad Ibrahim Hussain Gill 5-3, 4-1.
