MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas on Monday exhorted the civil servants to perform their duties selflessly and attend to the complaints of people on a priority basis with a missionary zeal.

He was addressing the graduation ceremony of the participants of the 9th mid-career management course here at the Kashmir Institute of Management (KIM) to whom he also awarded certificates afterwards.

Appreciating the AJK officers, he said though they were “competent” and were rendering their duties in the best possible manner, there was however still room for further improvement in their performance and attitude.

“You should ensure appropriate seating arrangements in offices for the applicants so that they can be cited as an example in other parts of the country,” he said.

Declaring KIM as an “excellent training institute,” PM Ilyas promised that his government would further develop it to the pride of the entire official machinery.

On this occasion, he also announced a donation of two vehicles and Rs1.5 million in cash for the institute.

He maintained that the training programmes for the civil servants were meant to enhance their knowledge, professional competence and skills on the one hand and bring about a positive change in their attitudes on the other.

Of the mid-career management course, he said, its basic purpose was to explore the hidden abilities of the participants and build their capacity so that they could build self-confidence in themselves, achieve decision-making and organizational powers and could conveniently address problems in their remaining service.

Earlier, Director General KIM retired Brig Akhtar Hussain Shah dilated on the performance of his institution ever since its inception, claiming that it had brought marked change in the attitudes of the trainee officers.
