Birds, trees burnt in forest fire
MUZAFFARGARH: Once again a blaze erupted on Thursday in Lashariwala forest near Head Taunsa barrage, reducing a large number of birds, animals and trees to ashes.
The fire was so massive that flames were seen from a distance of 10 kilometres. Rescuers controlled the fire after five-hour hectic efforts.
Officials of the irrigation and forest departments did not get a case registered till the filing of the report.
Last year, fire had broken out thrice and the forest and the irrigation officials got cases registered against 26 people with no arrest while the department did not pursue the cases.
Meanwhile, locals have termed the incident negligence on the part of the respective department.
They have appealed to the Punjab government to constitute a team to probe the incident.
SURGERY: The Indus Hospital (Turkey Hospital) in Muzaffargarh decided to observe the ‘spine week,’ from Feb 20 to 24.
A team of doctors is coming there from America to do back and neck surgeries free of cost.
This is a golden opportunity, especially for the patients for kyphosis and scoliosis of the back.
