Man flees bailiff custody with the help of family
OKARA: A man fled the bailiff’s custody with the help of his family members and other residents.
The Renala civil court bailiff, Saleem Abbas, in the execution of a court decree titled Nazia Parveen verse Karamat Ali arrested Karamat in village 20/1AL. Meanwhile, Karamat’s wife Kalsoom, her sister Saima and five other people pinned the bailiff, tore off his uniform and got Karamat released from the his custody.
The Shergarh police registered a case under sections 506, 186,148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
WORKSHOP: A two-day capacity-building training workshop for the Punjab Irrigation Department, On Farm Water Management (OFWM), and faculty and students of the University of Okara (UO) and the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad sub-campus of Depalpur, concluded here on Tuesday.
The workshop was aimed to increase the knowledge and understanding of open-source Global Positioning System, data collection tools and insight into various applications and benefits of these technologies for enhanced decision-making in government departments and academia.
UO Vice Chancellor Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmed stressed adopting geographic information system (GIS) technology in the agriculture sector for innovation.
He also highlighted the need to foster collaboration among academia and training institutions for knowledge sharing.
The training programme provided a hands-on demonstration of the differential global navigation satellite system (DGNSS) and its application in surveys.
The participants gained a deeper understanding of how DGNSS can revolutionize surveying projects through practical demonstrations and on-ground scenarios. It is specifically designed to enhance the capacity of government officials and other stakeholders by equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge needed to stay ahead in the constantly evolving field of surveying.
Trainers demonstrated the actual set-up of a differential global positioning system (DGPS) to help participants understand the use of DGPS for increased accuracy and for identifying the mean sea level.
Dr Habibullah Habib, from Renala Khurd OFWM, said, “The application of the GPS and GIS in agriculture is important to measure crop growth and take timely decisions for improved crop productivity.
