funds for Attock distt uplift promised: PM cheers up quake survivors

ATTOCK, Jan 10: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said here on Tuesday that the nation demonstrated remarkable spirit and courage to meet the earthquake tragedy and the government also was making every effort to come out of this test successfully. Speaking to earthquake survivors at a tented village set up for them in Fateh Jhang, he said the government desired that they returned to normal life as soon as possible and was helping them to achieve the objective.

On the one hand the government wanted to continue relief work and on the other to start rebuilding work, he said, appreciating the rehabilitation arrangements made by the district government with the help of tehsil governments and local communities for the 2,500 survivors accommodated at the tented village.

The prime minister said his government was committed to the development of Attock district as it was his constituency. He said sufficient funds had been provided for various development schemes in the district. He promised more funds for sewerage and water supply schemes in tehsil Fateh Jhang and Hassanabdal.

NEW AIRPORT: Prime Minister Aziz said construction of the proposed new international airport of Islamabad at Fateh Jhang would change the destiny of the district. Contract for the mega project had been given to an international construction firm, he informed the audience.
