Court acquits four in robbery case for lack of evidence

KARACHI: A judicial magistrate acquitted on Friday four accused in a case pertaining to committing a robbery in an automobile garage.

The four accused — Saifullah, Sahibzadah, Olerin and Navel — were exonerated from the charges of robbing parts of some under-repair vehicles belonging to the Pakistan State Oil and the Oil and Gas Development Company within the jurisdiction of the Mauripur police station.

On Friday, the judicial magistrate (West) pronounced his verdict reserved earlier after recording evidence and final arguments from both sides.

The magistrate noted that the prosecution failed to prove the charge against the accused persons.

The court acquitted them for lack of evidence.

According to prosecution, the four men, including two sanitation workers, barged into the garage and stole the parts of some vehicles belonging to the PSO and OGDC.

A case was registered under Sections 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 457 (trespass by night to commit an offence), 380 (theft in dwelling house) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Mauripur police station.
