Mine owners in Khyber want ban on explosives lifted
KHYBER: Khyber Mine Owners Association (KMOA) has demanded of the authorities to lift ban on purchase of explosives for mining purpose.
Addressing a news conference at Bara Press Club on Sunday, KMOA president Asghar Khan Afridi said that explosives on a controlled basis were denied to them despite completion of paperwork for acquisition for different types of mines on lease.
He said that local miners had decided to explore various types of natural resources at different locations within limited resources but the ban on explosives was badly hampering the mining process.
He said that KMOA held a series of parleys with the relevant authorities during the last two years for lifting of ban on provision of explosives and abiding by standard operating procedures, but to no avail.
He demanded of Peshawar corps commander, IG FC North and commandant Tirah and Bara Rifles to look into the matter and resolve the issue.
LOOTED: Unidentified burglars looted a jewellery shop in broad daylight in Bara bazaar and managed to escape.
Shopkeepers said that two motorcyclists took away 25 tolas of gold and Rs3.3 million cash from the jewellery shop. Traders held a protest against police for their failure to provide security to shopkeepers.
KILLED: Unidentified gunmen killed a former cricketer and patron of a coaching academy in Bara on Sunday.
Police said that Abdul Aziz, who was running a cricket coaching academy in Bar Qambarkhel area, was targeted in Dogra locality minutes before evening prayers.
Abdul Aziz died on the spot while the unidentified killers, who were riding a motorcycle, managed to escape.
IGP: Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan said here the other day that full promotion opportunities would be provided to police in all the merged districts as their service structure was under process at the provincial level.
Addressing a police darbar during his first visit to Shahkas Police Training Centre in Jamrud, he said he being the provincial head was under obligation to protect legitimate rights of Khyber police.
He said that as tribal police had formally become part of KP police, necessary trainings would be imparted to them to make them eligible for appearing in A1 and B1 departmental examinations.
