KARACHI: The Roshan Khan National Team Squash Championship gets into action on Wednesday with seven teams in men’s and five in women’s vying for honours.

The event, which is being held under the aegis of Pakistan Navy, will be played at the PN Roshan Khan–Jahangir Khan Squash Complex and is being revived after a lapse of six years.

Announcing the details at a press conference held at the venue, organising secretary Lt. Cdr Rahmatullah said seven teams namely Wapda, Army, Navy, Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will feature in the men’s category.

He added that five teams — Wapda, Army, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan — are in fray in the women’s event.

Squash legend Jahangir Khan who was also present on the occasion, deplored the absence of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) from the five-day competition.

“It is important to continue the events in search of new talent in squash,” he added.

He advised the youngsters to work hard and utilise the facilities for scaling new heights in the game in future.
