DPO to be responsible for kite flying death: CM

LAHORE: The district police officer will be held responsible if anyone is killed because of kite flying, says caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday, Mr Naqvi ordered an indiscriminate crackdown on those violating the kite flying prohibition law.

“Legal action will be taken against those who fly kites and indulge in aerial firing,” he said.

He expressed anger over the incidents of kite flying in some cities as Section 144 was imposed to stop it across Punjab.

The loss of life due to kite flying could not be tolerated, he said and directed that the police should ensure full action against those involved in aerial firing.

IGP Dr Usman Anwar said arms licences of those involved in aerial firing would be cancelled.

The commissioners of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan and Faisalabad divisions, RPOs, CPOs, DCs and DPOs participated through video link.

ENERGY: Governor Balighur Rehman presided over a meeting regarding consortium on energy sector at the Governor House on Wednesday.

The purpose of the consortium is to formulate recommendations for the government and the departments concerned in the light of research in the public universities to solve energy problems.

Punjab Higher Education Commission chairman Dr Shahid Munir and VCs of various universities were present in the meeting.
