LOADSHEDDING

LOADSHEDDING: The Colony Gate area has been experiencing frequent and lengthy power breakdowns, affecting the day-to-day activities of the local residents due to the constant sense of uncertainty about power supply. Moreover, there are continuous fluctuations in voltage that leave appliances damaged. The authorities concerned should show some level of responsibility.

WEARING HELMET: The road connecting Chakwal and Mandra has become rather deadly for the commuters not because of its design or any infrastructural issue, but due to the presence of reckless motorcyclists. A young boy had an accident recently and is in coma after receiving serious injuries to his head. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident which is the frontline prevention against head injuries. The traffic authorities should fine all motorcyclists not using helmets.

TURBAT LIBRARY: It is an irritating norm in society that government depart- ments shut down buildings and offices in the name of renovation, and forget about their reopening. Such is the case with the public library in Turbat. It was closed in 2020 and everyone was told that renovation work would start soon. Three years later, it remains waiting for that ‘soon’ to materialise. The apathy has left local students deprived of a facility.

METRO BUSES: The Lahore Metro Bus System, once the pride of the city and its residents, is now plagued by a host of issues. Other matters aside, it has become a bothersome affair for the differently abled people to use these buses. Most of the buses have worn-out horns because of which the visually impaired miss the arrival of buses. The elevators at many locations have stopped working, leaving many a disabled in a lurch. The management should resolve all such issues.
