Two shot dead in separate incidents

GUJRAT: Two persons were shot dead in as many incidents in the district on Wednesday.

As per police, Amir Rizwan and Junaid sustained critical bullet injuries, allegedly when Khaliq Hussain, his son Javed Iqbal and others opened fire on them at Chak Jani village in Dinga police precincts over a minor issue.

The suspects fled the scene and the injured were shifted to hospital, where Amir succumbed to his wounds.

The police have registered a case against four nominated and three unidentified suspects under sections 302, 324, 148 and 149 of the PPC on the report of Muhammad Ameen, uncle of the deceased, and started investigation.

In another incident, a youth, Salman Warraich, was gunned down by Abu Bakar and three others at Lakhanwal Khurd village in Jalalpur Jattan Saddar police precincts.

The police have registered a case against the two nominated and one unidentified suspects on the report of Ahmed Raza the brother of slain and started investigation.

CASE RESOLVED: Police claimed on Wednesday to have resolved a blind murder case as father turned out to be the killer of his son at Deona Mandi village in Rehmania police precincts.

A spokesman for Gujrat police said Shahzad Butt had been shot dead by unidentified men on Feb 2 the last. The police had lodged a case against unknown killer.

He said Gujrat DPO Asad Muzaffar had tasked Lalamusa DSP with probe into the matter.

The spokesman said the police later detained Arshad, the father of the slain youth on suspicion, who confessed to have killed his son with the help of his nephew, Habib.

Arshad alleged that the deceased would often torture him and his mother and also threatened to kill him. He said he had planned to eliminate his son with the help of his nephew.

The police have arrested both suspects and recovered the weapon used in the murder.
