Advice: Anger is not the solution

Every day we all face some challenges that incite our emotions. These can be positive emotions, such as pleasure, happiness and joy, but we can also feel negative emotions such as anger.

Nowadays, people get angry very quickly. They don’t only get angry at those whom they know, but also at people whom they don’t know. For example, social media plays a very important role in generating negative emotions in people. I am not saying that social media only has bad effects, but it is influencing people negatively. It is the reason for anger and hatred among many people. Many negative posts are shared on social media, or any post can receive an onslaught of negative comments, mostly from strangers. This affects people negatively, especially those at the receiving end of these negative comments.

Due to the fast-paced life these days and stress resulting from many factors, people get angry easily. For instance, if they get late for work due to traffic or any other reason, people take out their anger on the first person they meet. No wonder, everyone is always ready to fight at the slightest excuse. They just want to prove themselves right at any cost and that attitude triggers negative emotions.

It is normal to feel angry when you’re frustrated or sad about something, but taking out your anger aggressively and in a bad way is not okay. It not only affects you, but also your loved ones and your relationship with them. Expressing anger in the wrong way can lead you to feel regret and this will disturb your peace of mind.

Everyone has a different way of expressing their anger, either they isolate themselves or they say hurtful words to others, both ways are not acceptable. Such behaviour ruins your relationships and can take you away from your loved ones. When you’re angry, don’t use harsh words because they can never be taken back.

Sometimes it is not easy to let go and forgive someone. But if you don’t let go of your anger, you will become a prisoner of your emotions. The negative emotions will force you to take revenge and taking revenge is never a good solution.

Instead, proving people wrong can be the best revenge, for example someone makes you feel bad and humiliates you, saying you can’t do anything in life. Instead of getting upset, take that as a challenge to prove them wrong. So without saying a word, or getting angry, you turned the negative energy into fuel for positive action.

You can also express your anger sometimes, but always in a right and positive way. Saying hurtful words or hitting someone in anger is the most disgusting way of expressing anger.

In anger, you get distracted by your feelings, your focus shifts from creativity to revenge and hatred, such distraction also shifts your focus away from your work or goal, thus hampering your output. So, whenever you’re angry, try to become more focused on your work and put all your energy into your work. This will also help you to pacify your emotions and make you think more calmly.

When you hold grudges, it does not only affect others, but also has an impact on your body and mind. In anger, you say a lot of things which later make you feel embarrassed or guilty, so you start living with that guilt which can later turn into depression.

Many a times, people vent out their anger on people who have nothing to do with the situation that brought about that anger. For example, sometimes a man is upset because of something that took place in the office, but he comes home and vents out all his anger on his wife and children. As a result, he ends up hurting innocent people, who may not even know what has happened. So learn to stay composed and calm instead of letting your anger take control of you.
