Elderly man dies at ‘free flour point’
TOBA TEK SINGH: An old man who had come to get free wheat flour collapsed and died after getting exhausted due to the long wait at a government’s free flour distribution centre at Kaleem Shaheed Park in Faisalabad on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sardar Muhammad (74) of Chak 279-RB.
According to local media and social media reports, Sardar Muhammad was standing in the queue. As his condition got worse, he moved out of the queue and took a seat nearby where he collapsed. He was rushed to the Government General Hospital, Ghulam Muhammadabad, where he expired. A national identity card and two medicine prescription slips were found on him.
However, Faisalabad City police spokesperson Rana Muhammad Ismail claimed that he did not die at the Kaleem Shaheed Park flour distribution centre but on the Narwala Road, outside a snooker club opposite the park, where he was sitting.
It is to be mentioned that a stampede had occurred on Monday at the same the flour distribution centre at Kaleem Shaheed Park and five persons were injured in it. However, the spokesperson also claimed that only one woman had received minor injuries in a stampede on Monday.

Police said Tanzila Ejaz, 36, was a divorcee and she had recently contracted a love marriage with a man without the consent of her parents. Her brother, Tayyab, opened fire on her and killed her on the spot.
