Seasonal Sehwan
THE Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Usman Marwandi, better known as Shahbaz Qalandar, is celebrated every year for which people come to Sehwan Sharif from far and wide.
The city, however, is not equipped to handle such an influx, and struggles to provide proper accommodation to the visitors. The private and government rest houses are not enough to accommo-date such a large number of people. Left with no choice, the devotees spend time under the open skies in open plots of land or along the streets and even the National Highway.
During the time they spend in Sehwan, the devotees cause huge and frequent traffic jams as there is no designated parking space for them.
The city suffers from all sorts of pollution; from noise pollution to heaps of garbage, including animal and food waste. The local people of Sehwan suffer the most during such times. There is an urgent need to resolve the seasonal problems.
