Two die in Haripur accident, one commits suicide

HARIPUR: Three people were killed and two injured in separate incidents here, the police said here on Tuesday.

The Kotnajibullah police said local residents Mohammad Sabir and Zeeshan Shabbir suffered critical injuries after the motorcycle they rode fell into a roadside gorge near the Hattar Interchange.

They added that the injured were shifted to the trauma centre, where both died.

The Ghazi police said resident Sajid Kamran, 46, committed suicide in Mubeen Banda area.

The deceased’s father-in-law, George Gill, claimed that he went to his sister’s house and learned that Sajid Kamran locked himself in his bedroom and didn’t respond to frequent knocking of the door.

He added that he broke into the room and found his son-in-law’s body hanging from the ceiling fan.

The police and Rescue 1122 workers shifted the body to the tehsil headquarters hospital for postmortem.

George Gill said the deceased was the father of five daughters and a minor son and it wasn’t known why he ended his life.

However, the deceased was understood to be jobless and had faced financial problems for a few months.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman was run over and injured critically by a train on the railway track in the limits of Sera-i-Saleh railway station on Tuesday morning.

Witnesses said the woman, who was later identified as Bibi Aisha of Rehana village, was hit by the Havelian-bound Hazara Express train.

They said the woman with severe leg injuries was shifted to the trauma centre, where doctors admitted her.

Also, a resident shot another injured in the limits of Beer police station over a property dispute on Tuesday morning.

The police said Mohammad Haroon allegedly fired at Malik Aman of Dalri village with a pistol, injuring the latter critically.

They said the injured was shifted to the trauma centre, where his condition was stated to be critical.
