Faisalabad Test: Pakistan name unchanged squad

LAHORE, Jan 16: Pakistan have named an unchanged 15-man squad for the second cricket Test against India starting at Faisalabad on Saturday. “We see no logic in making any change because everyone needs a proper chance to prove himself,” chief selector Wasim Bari said on Monday.

The first Test at the Qadhafi Stadium is heading towards a draw after India, replying to Pakistan’s 679-7, were 403 without loss at stumps on the fourth day.

Bari brushed aside criticism that paceman Mohammad Sami, who conceded 67 runs in 12 unsuccessful overs, was not performing to expectations.

“It is correct Sami has not been doing well of late but he deserves another chance because we have confidence in him,” he said.

The team for the third and final Test in Karachi from Jan 29-Feb 2 will be named during the Faisalabad Test.

Squad: Inzamamul Haq (captain), Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik, Imran Farhat, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Akhtar, Rana Navedul Hasan, Danish Kaneria, Arshad Khan, Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Asif.—AFP
