Three suspects killed in Korangi ‘encounter’
KARACHI: Three suspected robbers were shot dead in an alleged encounter in the Korangi area in the small hours of Monday morning.
Police said that the encounter took place between the law enforcers and robbers at Bengali Para.
They said that the three suspects, riding a motorbike, arrived at Labour Square and barged into a house. The police were informed by neighbours and they rushed to the spot, surrounded the house and warned the suspects to surrender.
However, the suspects started firing and police returned fire, killing all of them on the spot, they said, adding that everyone living in the house remained safe.
The police claimed to have seized three TT pistols, one motorcycle and mobile phones from them.
The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to fulfil medico-legal formalities.
Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said two of the dead were identified as Ahmed Rashid, 30, and Mohammed Sadiq, 23.
“They sustained multiple firearm injuries in the chest and abdomen,” she said.
