New police checkpost at Punjab-KP boundary

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A new police checkpost has been established at the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial boundary to check the infiltration of militants and other criminals, on the orders of Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar.

District Police Officer Muhammad Rashid Hidayat inaugurated Hazrat Umar Farooq Chowki (post) on the Punjab-KP boundary on Friday.

“To thwart the nefarious designs of militants, a modern checkpoint has been established,” the DPO said.

He said the outpost would help maintain law and order in the area and prove to be a milestone in providing protection to the locals.

The DPO said that according to the instructions of the IGP the checkpost has been equipped with modern gadgets, including CCTV cameras, increased number of personnel and the latest arms and ammunition.

Keeping in view the convenience of the police personnel, a mess and an accommodation facility has also been arranged.

The DPO ordered the personnel and officers to make their best efforts to fight crime, maintain law and order and deliver justice.

He said the police had the power of the law and state resources to eradicate the anti-social elements and establishing the rule of law.

He also also inspected the arrangements made at checkpost and briefed the officials regarding the orders of IGP Dera Ghazi Khan regional police officer.

NURSES’ PROTEST: Nurses at the Layyah District Headquarters Hospital staged a protest demo against what they called favoritism and harassment by some health department officials.

After a footage of the nurses protest was uploaded on social media, DG Khan Commissioner Dr. Nasir Mehmood Bashir took notice and formed a three-member committee to probe into the issue.

Additional Commissioner Revenue Fakhrul Islam Dogar has been appointed as the convener of the inquiry committee, while Teaching Hospital DG Khan Medical Superintendent Dr Najibur Rahman and Assistant Professor Dr Asif Gormani are its member.

The committee would submit a report to the commissioner on Saturday (today).

The female nurses working at the DHQ hospital alleged administrative exploitation and harassment.
