Locals hold constable hostage to help wanted man flee

OKARA: More than two dozen suspects stopped a police team and held a constable hostage in a bid to get a wanted proclaimed offender escaped here on Wednesday at village Somian Bholoo.

As per first information report, a Renala CIA team, headed by In-charge SI Saifur Rehman was on a night patrol near village Somian Bholoo when they received information that PO Khudayar Yar Wattoo wanted in a dacoity case was present at Somian Bholoo along with his father Muhammad Tufail.

On seeing the police, Khudayar moved into the maize field and his father Tufail along with 20 suspects besieged the police team, blocked the road by parking a tractor-trolley and held constable Zamir Ahmad hostage. The team called 15 and station house officers of Chorastan Mian Khan and Basirpur police stations along with policemen rushed to the spot and got them freed.

On the report of Renala CIA In-charge Saifur Rehman, Chorastan Mian Khan police have registered a case under sections 216-A, 353,186, 147 and 149 of PPC against 20-25 suspects.
