Terrorism case: Lahore ATC summons Imran on May 19

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has ordered PTI Chairman Imran Khan to appear before it on May 19 regarding a terrorism case registered against him.

Racecourse Police had registered the cases against the former prime minister and other PTI leaders and workers on charges of attacking police teams and burning official property and vehicles outside his Zaman Park residence.

During the hearing, Judge Ijaz Ahmad Buttar raised concerns about the frequent absence of Imran, questioning his lawyer about the time it takes for Imran to reach the court from his residence in Zaman Park.

The judge dismissed the PTI’s claim that the presence of rival parties obstructed Imran’s path to the court, considering it an insufficient justification. Imran’s counsel, Salman Safdar, explained that certain individuals were stationed outside the court, attempting to exploit the situation for their own advantage.

The judge then granted Imran’s request for a one-day exemption from the court hearing and directed him to appear on Friday.
