Bilawal calls PPP CEC meeting today

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has called a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) today (Friday) to review the current situation following the May 9 riots.

This CEC meeting coincides with a meeting of the federal cabinet, where some important decisions are expected to be made.

According to the PPP Central Secretariat, the meeting will review the decisions made during the recent National Security Committee meeting, which includes the trial of PTI demonstrators either under the Army Act or through military courts.

The PPP has already opposed the idea of military courts in the past, whereas PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday endorsed the idea of military courts.
