TOBA TEK SINGH: Three people were attacked by a jackal in Jhang at Kot Shakirabad near Mauza Bagh on Toba Tek Singh Road.

Shahnaz Bibi, 45, and her nephew Mazhar Abbas, 12, were working in their fields when the jackal attacked them, resulting in serious injuries.

Similarly, in the same area, a farmer named Irfan Mujahid, 32, was present in his outhouse on the farmland when he was also attacked by a jackal. He sustained critical wounds.

All three victims were shifted to Jhang DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122 ambulances.

Also, two labourers were injured when the roof of a room at Jhang Municipal Committee’s disposal water works station, near Chungi No 22 on Sargodha Road, collapsed while they were conducting repairs.

Rescue 1122 responded to the incident, successfully rescuing the individuals by clearing the debris.

Both the injured labourers were taken to the DHQ Hospital for medical treatment.

FIRE: A fire broke out on Tuesday in a room of a Population Welfare Centre located on Millat Road in the Green Town locality in Faisalabad, resulting in the burning of furniture and electronics.

Prompt action by the Rescue 1122 firefighters helped extinguish the fire and prevent further loss. The cause of the fire was reported to be a short circuit.

VISIT: Caretaker Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Schools Education Mansoor Qadir inaugurated a solar system at the Government College Women University of Faisalabad (GCWUF) on Tuesday.

Emphasising the significance of universities as research centers, he highlighted how they equip students with the necessary skills to tackle modern challenges.

He toured various university facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, the fitness fusion centre, auditorium, business incubation centre, and e-employment centre.

He also met heads of teaching and administrative departments and assured them that issues faced by the university would be addressed. He mentioned that appointments for vacant positions would be made based on pure merit, ensuring fairness in the selection process.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Rubina Farooq briefed him on the university’s projects and provided a report on ongoing development and research initiatives.

The minister also visited the Government Sabria Sirajia Higher Secondary School, where he reviewed teaching and administrative affairs.

Notably, he shared that he himself was a former student at the same school.
