Search warrants: ATC notices to govt, police on Imran’s plea

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday issued notices to the district government and police on a petition of former prime minister Imran Khan seeking cancellation of the warrants for the search of his Zaman Park house.

The petition contended that the police misled the court and obtained the warrants on May 18 for the search of the petitioner’s home.

It said the police had secured the search warrants in a case wherein the petitioner had no role. However, it said, the petitioner permitted the police to search his house in the presence of the media.

The petition asked the court to cancel the search warrants earlier obtained by the police for being illegal and based on mala fide intention.

Judge Ijaz Ahmad Buttar sought replies from the police and the deputy commissioner on the PTI chief’s petition by May 30.
