District admin sets June 20 deadline to seek permission for collecting hides

RAWALPINDI: The district administration has made permission mandatory for collection of animal hides during Eidul Azha and set June 20 as last date for applying for the permission.

After receiving directives from the Punjab Home Department, the district administration had imposed a ban on collection of animal hides in the district.

The senior official said that all the banned outfits will not be allowed to collect the animal hides while charity organisations would collect the hides after permission from district administration.

He said that theHome Department of the Punjab government had banned the collection of hides of sacrificial animals without the approval of the competent authority.

“The DC office Rawalpindi will not receive any application for the permission letter after the expiry of the above mentioned date. Any organisation or person who will collect hides of sacrificial animal without prior approval will be treated as offence and strict action will be taken against them as per law,” he said.

He said the applicants would submit their Computerised National Identity Card copy, bank statement of the organisation, previous permission letter’s copy and details how many hides collected in the past.

He said special teams had been formed to stop illegal hide collection. He said that those who will be given permission will not allow to use loud speakers and install stalls on main roads.
