(EDITORIAL) While the Constituent Assembly decision in regard to the future of Karachi has been widely welcomed … there still seem to persist some misgivings in the minds of some people as to the propriety of administering Karachi centrally. … Since the measure was approved there has been going on a deliberate attempt on the part of some disgruntled individuals to rouse feelings of anger … against the measure among the people of Sind and to distort facts and to present them in a manner calculated to spread disaffection against the Centre… .
… It is … obvious that Karachi cannot be the federal capital and at the same time remain under the executive and administrative control of the Provincial Government. … Those Sindhi Muslims who felt gratified when they knew that their invitation to make Karachi the capital of Pakistan was accepted … have no justification to entertain any misgiving when the next logical step for the retention of capital in this city is being taken. … If the plans for a greater Karachi are carefully implemented … the whole province of Sind will be able to receive beneficial advantages.
