Murder suspect shot dead, cop injured outside court
TOBA TEK SINGH: A murder case suspect was killed and a police constable was critically wounded when a man opened fire outside the court of a judicial magistrate in Faisalabad on Wednesday.
Police say Saddam Ali of Chak 240-RB, Balochanwala, a suspect in a murder case registered against him by Dijkot police was brought to Faisalabad for case hearing from Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
When policemen were taking Saddama towards the court of Judicial Magistrate Shabbir Hussain Mohal in handcuffs, suddenly a man, later identified as Ali Asghar, opened indiscriminate fire on the suspect.
As a result, Saddam and a police Constable Amjad Ali were critically wounded. Saddam Ali succumbed to his injuries instantly, while the constable was admitted to DHQ Hospital.
The attacker, said to be a rival of the deceased, was overpowered by lawyers and Dolphin force personnel and was arrested.
BOOKED: An under-trial man, who was brought to a Gojra court from jail scuffled with a police sub-inspector in the prison van on Wednesday.
Gojra City police have registered a case against the accused, Bilal, of Toba Tek Singh, on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Zahid Iqbal.
