Minor girl raped by prayer leader

TOBA TEK SINGH: A prayer leader allegedly raped an eight-year-old orphan girl here on Thursday at Chak 610 GB in Faisalabad’s Tandlianwala area.

According to the first information report registered by Tandlianwala Saddar police under section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code, the complainant [a widow] alleged that her daughter went to mosque to learn the holy Quran where suspect the took her to his adjacent house, raped her and managed his escape.

The girl was shifted to Tandlianwala THQ hospital where doctors confirmed the rape.

Police are conducting raids to arrest the suspect.

SHOT DEAD: A shopkeeper was allegedly shot dead by robbers over resistance on Thursday in Nasar Colony of Faisalabad located on Samundri Road.

Reports said Bagh Ali Bagga was present at his shop when two armed motorcyclists came there.

Bagga offered resistance to which they fired on him as a result he was critically wounded and died instantly.

Robbers managed to flee after the murder. Samanabad police have obtained CCTV footages of the nearby shops to identify the suspects.

COMMITTEES: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman has constituted two committees to identify and remove the business-related anomalies in the federal budget 2023-24.

A release issued by Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday said FCCI President Dr Khurram Tariq has been nominated as the chairman of the anomaly committee for business.

It said Ms Suraiya Ahmad Butt, member (customs policy) FBR and Afaque Ahmad Qureshi, member (inland revenue policy), would assist him as co-chairpersons of the committee.

It said the committee would review and point out business-related anomalies in the budget and present suggestions and recommendations while it would also receive complaints along with their viable solution.
