Pakistan shine in Asian U-21 snooker

KARACHI: Pakistan took a winning start in the Asian U-21 and Asian 6-Reds Team Snooker Championships which commenced in Tehran the other day.

According to results, former world champion Ahsan Ramzan blanked Iran’s Arshia Tehrani straight 55-21, 93-15, 76-24 in group ‘B’.

The duo of Ahsan and Haris Tahir survived scare while overcoming Kuwait’s opponents in agonising battle by 3-2 in team event with the scores being 120-8, 90-23, 50-97, 12-99, 95-18.

In another team match, Pakistan outpaced Qatar 3-1 to stay unbeaten in group ‘A’.

Pakistan had a sluggish start losing the opening frame 20-62 but recovered to win the following three 74-2, 76-20, 77-14.

As many as 19 players including eight from host country and three each from India and Hong Kong are competing for honours in the Asian U-21 event.
