Benazir blames government for Interpol action

WASHINGTON, Jan 26: Pakistan Peoples Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto on Thursday rejected the charges levelled against her in the Interpol red notices, saying that the notices were instigated by the Pakistan government for diverting attention from domestic problems.

“The move particularly aims at diverting attention from the Jan 13 missile attack at a village in Bajaur,” she told a press conference at the VOA radio.

She rejected President Musharraf’s claim that he had nothing to do with the Interpol notices.

“This is how this government functions,” she said. “The National Accountable Bureau officials were handpicked by President Gen Pervez Musharraf and he is responsible for whatever they do,” she said.
