Delivery rider of online bike-hailing service shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: A bike rider of an online ride-hailing service was shot dead on Monday evening on Jahangir Road, police said.

Jamshed Quarters SHO Gul Baig said Mudasir Husain, 45, was riding a motorbike when armed pillion riders fired at him from behind at Jehangir Road-2.

He said that a bullet pierced through the helmet and hit him in the head. He fell on the road and was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

He said the killers did not take away anything. The police were investigating the motive of the murder.

Woman killed in Orangi

A 40-year-old woman was shot dead in Orangi Town, police said on Monday.

The Pirabad police said Shagufta Yar Mohammed was killed by unknown persons in Frontier Colony late on Sunday night.

The police attributed some personal enmity behind the murder. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, in Federal B Area, 19-year-old Abdullah was shot at and wounded by robbers over resistance near Aisha Manzil. He was shifted to a private hospital for treatment.
