Two cops suspended for beating women

CHARSADDA: District police officer Mohammad Arif on Tuesday suspended two policemen for beating up women at a Benazir Income Support Programme distribution centre in Tangi here.

The DPO took the action after a video went viral on social media showing two cops beating poor women at the distribution centre, Babara, Tangi.

The women alleged that they were forced to wait for hours in queues in scorching heat as the centre suffered from disruptive internet facility and inadequate staff. They said the centre had no drinking water.

They alleged that no arrangements had been made to facilitate the deserving women, saying there were six fingerprint devices at the centre set up in government high school, Babara, but all of them were defective.

Strongly reacting to the maltreatment of women, the people demanded of the government to find a dignified way to deliver the BISP amount to the beneficiaries.
