LAHORE: Pakistan Olympian javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem is set to miss the Asian Athletics Championships to be held in Pattaya, Thailand from July 12 .

Athletic Federation of Pakistan president Akram Sahi along with Arshad announced the unfortunate development at a press conference here on Wednesday.

Akram lamented Arshad’s decision to take part in the recent National Games, which were held in Quetta, noting that the 26-year-old was fit before taking part in the event.

The AFP chief further added that Arshad’s parent department Wapda shouldn’t have allowed him to participate in the event, considering his forthcoming international commitments.

He also criticised the tracks at the national premier event, stating that they weren’t up to the mark which became the reason for injuries to many athletes.

Arshad — who said that he was feeling pain in his right ankle — also revealed that he complained to the organisers of the Games about the sub-standard track but no action was taken.
