SUP accuses PPP govt of ‘betraying’ Sindh

KARACHI: Accusing the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party of “betraying” the province, the Sindh United Party has said it will not allow “occupation” of province’s resources in the name of so-called investment.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, SUP president Zain Shah expressed his serious reservations over the newly formed forum, the Special Investment Facilitation Council.

“We want progress and development of the country, but this decision has taken back provincial autonomy, which itself is against the Constitution and Pakistan Resolution,” he said, adding that the government of the PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was heading towards division of Sindh by depriving the province of its legitimate powers and resources.

Accusing PPP of betraying Sindh, he said that it had already roll back 18th Amendment to the Constitution by passing a resolution in the Sindh Assembly by handing over powers to the federal government in the name of investment in mineral resources.

“We condemn this decision and we will not tolerate exploitation of Sindh in the name of economic recovery,” he stated.

He vowed to foil the conspiracies allegedly being hatched by the PPP and PML-N against the province.
