Driver killed as oil tanker catches fire in Attock
TAXILA: An oil tanker driver was burnt to death while his cleaner was injured critically when the tanker skidded off the road and overturned near Kharappa interchange in Shahbazpur area in the limits of Pindigheb police station of Attock on Friday.
Police and Rescue 1122 sources said the tanker was carrying oil from local oil field to Kohat when the driver lost control over the vehicle and overturned and caught fire. The drive trapped in the wreckage and was burnt to death while his cleaner received serious burn injuries and shifted to THQ hospital from where to Rawalpindi due to his critical burn injuries.
On getting information, fire tenders reached the spot and extinguished the fire and cleared the inter provincial road for vehicular traffic.
Girl goes missing
A 22-year-old woman disappeared from her house in the limits of Hassanabdal police station.
Her father reported to the police that his daughter went to sleep in her room but went missing in the morning.
Police have registered an abduction case and launched further investigation.
Meanwhile, bodies of two of three youth drowned in river Indus near Attock Khurd Bridge on June 18 recovered from Dehar area-124 kilometers away from place of drowning.
The youth are native of Loralai Balochistan and were studying in a seminary in Akora Khattak went to the site for a picnic but drowned one by one while saving each other.
Soon after their drowning incident, Rescue 1122 teams launched a search operation but failed to recover bodies.
On Friday their bodies were spotted and retrieved from the river and handed over to their families who came from Loralai.
Rescue 1122 sources said that the body of one youth was still missing.
