Five die in separate incidents in Attock, Taxila
TAXILA: As many as five people died in various parts of Attock and Taxila on Sunday, police and hospital sources said.
In the first incident, the body of a woman was found from her house near a railway crossing on Bassal Road in the limits of Attock city.
Quoting family members, police said the woman, identified as Bint-i-Mohammad, lived alone in her house and had not been responding to their phone calls. On Sunday, the lock of her room was broken in the presence of the police and she was found dead. Her body was later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
In another incident, a man drowned in Ghazi Barotha water channel near Hazro.
Hospital sources said Saqib Khan, a resident of Nartoppa village, went to the water channel to beat the heat where he drowned. His body was later retrieved by volunteers.
Besides, the two-day-old body of a man was recovered from his house.
According to police, Sajid, who lived alone, has not come out of his house for the last two days and was also not responding to calls on his mobile phone. On Sunday, neighbours visited his house and found his body lying in the room.
Separately a man died after a speeding truck rammed into his vehicle on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) near Hassanabdal.
Police sources said Hussain lost his life when a mini-truck, driven by Adil, crashed into his vehicle. He was later arrested.
Meanwhile, the body of a man was found under a bridge along Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) near Passwal in the limits of Taxila police station on Sunday.
According to police, passerby spotted the body lying under a bridge and informed the police. The body was later shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Taxila, for autopsy.
During preliminary medical examination, it was revealed that the man was strangled to death and later his body was thrown there to conceal the crime. The deceased was identified as Meer Gul.
