Karachi mayor again asks JI to sit together for city’s uplift

KARACHI: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Monday once again asked Jamaat-i-Islami’s (JI) Hafiz Naeemur Rehman to sit together for the development of Karachi so that the problems of the people could be solved.

He said this while speaking at a ceremony organised on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of the Allama Iqbal Park in Federal B. Area’s Block 14.

Barrister Wahab said that, like the Jahangir Park in Saddar, Allama Iqbal Park was being constructed at a cost of Rs250 million for the people of District Central.

The project would be completed in three months and has three components. The park will be built on two acres whereas a football and a cricket ground would also be built under Karachi Mega Projects, he said.

The city mayor said that the PPP believed only in public service and would continue its journey of development in every street of the city.

People’s complaints to be resolved

The mayor on Monday said the people’s complaints regarding cleaning and other municipal issues would be resolved on a priority basis.

He was presiding over a meeting in his office for a detailed review of the problems faced by the people in Orangi, Manghopir and Mominabad towns.

He issued instructions for their immediate solution by relevant bodies.

He directed the Solid Waste Management Board to keep in contact with the town municipal corporations regarding sanitation and all the officials should solve the problems of the people through mutual cooperation.

He said that the cattle market established on the green belt in Orangi Town should be removed immediately. He said the district-wise helpline number should be issued regarding the handling of the complaints.
