China to build airport in Dera Ismail Khan, claims minister
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Federal Minister of Communications Mufti Asad Mahmood has claimed China will build an airport in Dera Ismail Khan under CPEC.
Talking to mediapersons at his residence in Abdulkhel area here, he said the coalition government was trying to restore the international community’s trust in Pakistan as the previous government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had done a ‘great deal of harm’ to the country’s relations with the world community.
He claimed the loan agreement with IMF came about because of the current government’s ‘prudent policies’.
He alleged the previous PTI government had changed the original design of CPEC on the pretext of reducing the cost.
He further said during Imran Khan’s government, work on Abdulkhel grid station here was stopped.
He said the relevant authorities had also started a survey of Daraban-Ramak Road, Band-Korai Road, and other such projects.
KILLED: Five people were killed in different firing incidents here, the police said on Saturday.
A Paharpur police official said Noor Mohammad Kundi, 58, lodged a report, stating that some accused opened fire, leaving his brother, Mada Khan Kundi, 45, killed on the spot and him injured over a land dispute.
The police said the attackers belonged to the Kharoti tribe. The police have registered a case against three accused and their accomplices.
Meanwhile, a Kulachi police official said Sher Zaman Baloch, 57, a resident of Mohalla Jattanwala, filed a report, stating that Qamar Zaman alias Qamari shot dead his brother, Gul Zaman with an AK-47 rifle over a murder enmity.
Separately, Azeem Khan, 75, filed a report with Daraban police station, saying that Samiullah and Akbar shot dead his nephew, Akhtar Munir, 40, over a trivial matter.
Also, a man was shot dead in the limits of Daraban police station. The deceased was identified as Dil Jaan.
In a separate development, the cantonment police arrested two robbers and seized Rs900,000 cash, which they had looted from a trader about a week ago, a police official said on Saturday.
