Sindh govt demands end to loadshedding

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has expressed his concern over prolonged power outages in Karachi and rural parts of the province.

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, the minister said that people across the province were enduring immense hardship because of severe loadshedding.

He urged the prime minister and the federal government to take immediate and strict action and direct authorities to end hour-long power outages in the province.

The minister, on behalf of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Sindh government, strongly condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and said that this abhorrent act had been widely condemned by people around the world, regardless of their religion or nationality.

“It is regarded as a reprehensible act, and we join in strongly condemning it as well,” he said.

Talking about the Jamaat-i-Islami, the minister urged the religio-political party to refrain from placing blame of its failure in the mayoral elections on the PPP and instead collaborate for progress.

He asked the JI to come together, discuss the issues at hand and work collectively to find solutions for the city’s problems.
