ABBOTTABAD: The district administration has banned the entry of 24 clerics to Abbottabad under the Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to help maintain peace during Muharram.

Deputy commissioner Khalid Iqbal issued the order, which stated that the ban would remain enforced for one month. The order warned that action would be taken against those violating the ban.

Those having banned entry to Abbottabad included Muavia Azam Tariq, Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui, Maulana Mohammad Ahmad Ludhianvi, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Chand Peer Shah, Maulana Asif Sial Muavia, Maulana Masood ur Rahman Usmani, Maulana Khadim Hussain Dhillon, Maulana Alam Tariq, Maulana Masroor Nawaz Jhangvi, Allama Kifayat Hussain Naqvi, Maulana Atta Mohammad Dilshani, Maulana Manzoor Hussain Mangal, Imran Gul, Zulfikar Shah, Amin Shahidi, Maulana Saeed Rizvi, Maulana Asif Jalali, Maulana Umeer Azhari, Maulana Hanif Jadoon, Shafiq Amini, Islamuddin Usmani, Maulana Shabbir Mohammad Usmani and Allama Manzoor Hussain.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner also passed a month-long order banning certain activities to help maintain law and order during Muharram.

These activities include display of firearms and ammunition, pillion riding, use of tinted glass in vehicles, standing on rooftops of buildings and houses along the routes of Muharram processions, stay of strangers in buildings, hotels and houses along the procession routes and near Imambargahs, publishing of hateful content, wall chalking, use of loudspeakers, provocative and insulting words, incendiary speeches, and gathering of more than five people.
