Document attestation

THE process of attestation of degrees by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has lately become a costly and time-consuming affair. The IBCC, for instance, has been charging Rs3,200 per document. Is it fair?

After a long and cumbersome procedure for getting things done at the IBCC, the HEC takes time in attesting documents and checks the matriculation and intermediate certificates before attesting bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

For doing that, the HEC charges Rs1,000 for every original document and Rs700 for every photocopy of the document.

Every candidate who has procured a degree after years of efforts has to undergo a process of attestation which is costly, lengthy and stressful. The government should reduce the cost of document attestation to facilitate the students who in any case spend a stressful academic life.
