PTI-P leader promises uplift of youth

KOHAT: Former MPA Ziaullah Bangash, who has joined the newly-formed Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-Parliamentarians, said on Tuesday that under the leadership of former chief minister Pervez Khattak, the party would work for welfare of youth.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Bangash, who was earlier affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, said they had learned a lot from the previous mistakes, which won’t be repeated in future.

He said the PTI-P would soon release its manifesto. He said he would also announce his strategy for development of his PK-90 constituency.

Answering a question about the inordinate delay in start of reconstruction work on Liaquat Memorial Hospital, which was inaugurated by him and his new party head, former chief minister Pervez Khattak, in 2018 at a cost of Rs1.2 billion, Mr Bangash said some technical issues like cost escalation were hampering the project.

He said he would ensure speedy completion of the hospital project if he was elected to the provincial assembly.

Talking about the abandoned project of recycling plant, Mr Bangash said the project would be started afresh by the World Bank.

PROTEST: Hundreds of consumers of Peshawar Electric Supply Company from various villages blocked the Indus Highway here on Tuesday to protest against excessive electricity loadshedding in the hot weather.

The residents of Bamma, Sorgul, Teen Talab, Kamardhand, Tangi Banda and Boraka areas participated in the protest and raised slogans against the Pesco officials.

The protesters accused Pesco sub-divisional officer Fida Wazir and superintendent Hanif of taking bribe to supply electricity from their feeder to other areas.

The protesters opened the highway for traffic after getting assurance from the Pesco officials that their problem would be resolved soon.
