Lahore Arts Council unveils ‘Gosha-i-Fun’ for music enthusiasts

LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council has announced the establishment of ‘Gosha-i-Fun’, a corner dedicated to promoting music by young and upcoming singers.

According to officials, this artistic space will come to life after Muharram and feature performances by both singers and instrumentalists.

Nestled in front of the Alhamra cafeteria, the ‘Gosha-i-Fun’ will boast a charming open red brick floor and a circular stage that will set the perfect stage for musicians and singers to captivate a diverse audience. With live orchestra tunes, alluring illuminations, and floral decorations, the corner promises to be a major attraction for visitors, especially on weekends.

“The idea behind Gosha-i-Fun has roots in the fact that art lovers can spend quality time here, enjoying live music,” said Assistant Director Khurram Naveel. He added that they want art lovers to relish live music and spend quality time here.

, the Lahore Arts Council stands out as the only arts council in the city to offer ticket-free weekly performances of such calibre at their venue.

The singers and instrumentalists will also perform at the request of the audience; however, no Indian song will be allowed to sing at the venue, only Pakistani music. At the weekly concert, one song and an instrumental performance will be dedicated to the golden era of Pakistani cinema, and popular film numbers will be sung.

Mr Naveel said Gosha-i-Fun would soon have a mural painted by young artists. The mural would be a collage of information on the council and refer to personalities who had been associated with this art body of the city. He said Alhamra has bought special murraahs (traditional chairs from Chiniot) that will be placed at the venue. The assistant director said the singers and instrumentalists from the Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts will perform at the corner, along with the young upcoming singers. These live performances will attract visitors and the audience to enjoy the music and food at the same place since Alhamra Café will be offering special offers on weekends at the weekly music concerts.

He said the café in Alhamra is being revamped and decorated. It is being bedecked with flowers and other decorative material, adding that the Lahore Arts Council would also install an air-conditioning unit at the café, which was not there earlier so that visitors would enjoy a perfect atmosphere and the best meal at the café.
