SC moved for suo motu action on torture of maid

LAHORE: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court, seeking a suo motu action on the torture of a maid by the wife of a civil judge.

Advocate Mudassir Chaudhry pleaded in his petition filed at the apex court’s Lahore registry that the incident of torture of Rizwana by her employer has exposed violation of fundamental rights.

He submitted that the victim is fighting for her life at a hospital due to the cruelty she suffered at the civil judge’s house. He argued that the incident needs a fair and free investigation, but it appears to be impossible under the prevailing circumstances.

He urged the apex court to take a suo motu notice on the matter so that justice can be delivered to the victim.
