KOHAT: Filling stations in Kohat stopped selling petrol and diesel to motorists after the oil companies kept their supplies suspended for the second consecutive day here on Monday.

Mr Imtiaz, an owner of a filling station, told Dawn that all the major oil marketing companies had stopped supplies. He said some filling stations had a very little quantity of oil products left, which would also be exhausted by Monday night. He said a majority of pumps had emptied stocks.

Mr Imtiaz said the government had taken no notice of the suspension of oil supplies. He hinted that the companies had stopped supplies in anticipation of a further hike in the oil prices.

HOUSES RAIDED: The police raided the houses of the district president of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and a senior leader on Sunday night for leading a procession on the occasion of Independence Day while holding party flags and raising slogans for the release of former prime minister Imran Khan.

The police raided the house of PTI president Aftab Alam, located in front of the Kohat Cadet College, but didn’t find him. However, they took away his elder brother, Noor Khan.

Similarly, the police raided the house of senior party leader, Shafi Jan in the cantonment area, and took away his elder brother, Hafiz Inaam.

However, the Insaf Lawyers Forum petitioned the court for their release on Monday. Later, the court ordered their release.

ARRESTED: The police arrested 63 proclaimed offenders and 1,771 suspects during operations over the last fortnight. They also arrested 93 drug smugglers and seized a large quantity of heroin and ice drug from them.

The police also arrested six illegal Afghans and 20 facilitators of POs, according to a statement issued from the office of district police officer Farhan Khan on Monday.

It said the operations were launched under the National Action Plan.

The seized drugs and weapons included six kilogrammes of ice drug, one kg of heroin, 13 Kalashnikovs, 32 shotguns, 23 repeaters, four rifles, 200 pistols and 5,000 cartridges.
