Sindh IGP replaced as reshuffle continues

ISLAMABAD: The caretaker government continued to reshuffle senior officers of the bureaucracy on Saturday, removing Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon and appointed Riffat Mukhtar as the new head of the provincial police force.

According to the notification issued by the Establishment Division, Mr Memon has not been given any posting, at least for the time being, and has been ordered to report to the Establishment Division.

The notification said, “with the approval of Federal Government, Mr Ghulam Nabi Memon, a BS-21 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, presently posted as Provincial Police Officer (PPO), Government of Sindh, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, is transferred and directed to report to Establishment Division, with immediate effect and until further orders.”

Another notification of appointment of new IG states: “with the approval of Federal Government, Mr Riffat Mukhtar, a BS-21 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, presently serving under Government of Punjab, is transferred and posted as Provincial Police Officer (PPO), Government of Sindh, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, with immediate effect and until further orders.”

The caretaker government has also changed Aviation Division secretary retired Capt Saif Anjum, a BS-22 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), posting him as secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI).

Asad Rehman Gilani, a PAS officer of BS-21 who was working as secretary BOI, has been posted as additional secretary (in charge) Aviation Division.

A day earlier, the caretaker set up made a massive reshuffle in the top bureaucracy and transferred more than two dozen officials, presently serving in Grade 21-22.
