Spiritual leader laid to rest

TOBA TEK SINGH: Sheikh Muhammad Amin Bin Abdul Rehman, the founder of his spiritual school of thought called Silsila Aminia Idrisia, was laid to rest on Thursday in Multan’s Shah Rukne Alam Town. He was 90.

He served for 30 years as the prayer leader at Masjid An-Noor in Madina, Saudi Arabia. In the late 1980s, he returned to Pakistan and lived in Karachi for 12 years before moving to Multan in 1995. In Pakistan, he introduced the Aminia (named after himself) Idrisi Tareeqah. The Idrisia school was established by Ahmad Ibn Idris Alfasi, a Moroccan mystic teacher from the 19th century. His teachings created a following that established centres not only across Pakistan but also in other countries where daily mehfil zikr (gatherings for remembrance) are held on darood sharif.

From Wednesday morning to Thursday afternoon, his followers from all over the country gathered to pay their respects.
