Celebratory firing claims boy’s life in Orangi Town
KARACHI: A 12-year-old boy was killed in celebratory during a wedding ceremony in Orangi Town on Sunday evening, police and rescue services.
They said that the boy, Umer Syed, suffered a bullet wound in Bukhari Colony when some people fired into the air in jubilation. He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
The area SHO said that the boy was sitting on a pushcart when a bullet hit him in the abdomen.
No arrest has so far been made as those involved in firing managed to escape.
Suspect shot dead by guard
A suspected thief was shot dead by a private security guard at an industrial unit in Korangi on Sunday, police said.
They said that a man, aged around 25 years, entered the premises with an intention to steal some valuables. In the meantime, a security guard saw him and opened fire. The suspect suffered critical bullet wounds and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.
Woman hurt in cylinder explosion
A young woman suffered burn wounds when a gas cylinder exploded in her home in Baldia Town on Sunday, police said.
The Madina Colony police said that the cylinder blast occurred inside a home near Rana Ground. As a result, Seema Naseer, 35, suffered burn wounds.
She was shifted to the Burns Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
