Workshop on malnourished children
LAHORE: The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Head Dr Palitha Mahipala and Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal inaugurated on Monday the five-day training session focusing on malnourished children at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here.
The session began at the Stabilization Centre in the Department of Pediatrics of the hospital.
A hospital spokesperson said the session is aimed to ensure the delivery of the best healthcare facilities to malnourished children.
He said Dr Mahipala, who visited the hospital, along with a delegation, also held a meeting with the FJMU VC and other faculty members.
Dean of Nursing/Director Quality Enhancement Cell Prof Bilquis Shabbir briefed the delegation about the achievements of the FJMU with reference to its educational and healthcare services.
VC Gondal announced the varsity would soon be launching postgraduate programmes in preventive pediatrics.
“Prevention is better than cure, so we have to promote awareness, preventive measures, provision of nutrition and breastfeeding for malnourished children”, the VC said.
Dr Mahipala commended the dedication and pioneering efforts of the VC and the entire university administration and faculty for their contributions.
