Hindu community ends protest sit-in

HYDREABAD: The Hindu community on Tuesday ended its five-day protest sit-in at Dera Morr in Kashmore, after most of its kidnapped members were freed from the clutches of dacoit gangs.

Dr Mahar Chand, who along with other community leaders had been leading the protest, said that the sit-in was being ended as Mukhi Jagdesh and Jai Deep safely returned to their homes while early recovery of another hostage, Sagar Kumar, was ensured by the Kandkot-Kashmore police.

Shikarpur SSP Amjad Shaikh, who holds the additional charge of Kandhkot-Kashmore, confirmed that the protest had been called off.

“Sagar Kumar, who is in his mid-20s, and Mushtaq Mumdani are yet to be recovered, said the SSP while recalling that Dr Munir Naich had been recovered by police a day earlier.

Naich was abducted about 50 days from the Guddu power house.

Dr Chand told Dawn over phone that Saleem Jan Mazari was assured by the police that Sagar Kumar would be recovered soon.
